Vietnamese journal listed in prestigious global index of reliable scientific articles

HCM CITY — The Journal of Asia Business and Economic Studies published by the University of Economics HCM City has been accepted in the prestigious Scopus Index.

It is the first social & humanities, business and management journal in Việt Nam in the Scopus Index, Elsevier Publishing House (Netherlands)’s database of reliable scientific articles.

Speaking at an international announcement event held on March 18, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Assoc Prof Dr Nguyễn Văn Phúc said it was a great step forward in the recognition of Vietnamese scientific knowledge by international academic forums.

The journal effectively utilised Government funding and continued to make significant strides in the global academic community, he said.

JABES accomplished a number of important projects in recent years, including upgrade of its English version to meet Scopus standards, he said.

Prof Dr Sử Đình Thành, rector of UEH, said, “The inclusion of JABES in the Scopus Index is a source of pride not only for UEH but also for the academic community in Việt Nam in general.

“Based on today’s success, JABES will continue to develop further, always maintain and promote our academic reputation and affirm its status as a Scopus journal.”

JABES was formerly known as the Journal of Economic Development and first published in 1990.

The first English-language version was published in 1994 and was called the Economic Development Review.

Its title was changed in 2012 to Journal of Economic Development, and in 2018 to the current one.

To find a place in the Scopus list, all journals must pass a rigorous evaluation and selection process. —VnExpress News
