Việt Nam’s daily COVID caseload hits record high for three consecutive days

HÀ NỘI — With 34,737 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, Việt Nam’s daily tally has now hit a record high for three consecutive days.

The new cases bring the tally across the country to 2,606,824 with 39,188 deaths and 2,249,155 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 2,826 severe cases, of which 18 are on life support.

The average number of daily COVID-19 infections over the past seven days stands at 28,869.

Out of the new daily transmissions, 25,026 were community cases.

The capital city of Hà Nội registered the highest daily number of infections with 3,888, followed by Thái Nguyên (2,497), Hải Dương (1,598) and Quảng Ninh (1,536).

The remaining transmissions were found in Hải Phòng (1,487), Phú Thọ (1,332), Ninh Bình (1,316), Nam Định (1,281), Vĩnh Phúc (1,274), Bắc Ninh (1,209), Nghệ An (1,188), Hòa Bình (974), Thái Bình (836), Bình Định (805), Thanh Hóa (781), Sơn La (770), Lào Cai (769), Đà Nẵng (743), Bắc Giang (711), Hưng Yên (648), Hồ Chí Minh City (620), Quảng Nam (606), Yên Bái (595), Quảng Bình (574), Lạng Sơn (552), Hà Tĩnh (417), Khánh Hòa (412), Tuyên Quang (395), Quảng Trị (391), Đắk Lắk (384), Lâm Đồng (362), Phú Yên (316), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (298), Gia Lai (275), Cao Bằng (269), Bình Phước (264), Thừa Thiên Huế (258), Quảng Ngãi (245), Hà Nam (229), Đắk Nông (179), Kon Tum (171), Điện Biên (166), Cà Mau (128), Lai Châu (122), Bình Thuận (119), Hà Giang (118), Đồng Nai (87), Bạc Liêu (78), Bình Dương (76), Vĩnh Long (69), Bến Tre (65), Bắc Kạn (56), Tây Ninh (31), An Giang (27), Đồng Tháp (24), Sóc Trăng (19), Long An (18), Cần Thơ (15), Trà Vinh (13), Hậu Giang (12), Kiên Giang (11), Ninh Thuận (10) and Tiền Giang (4).

A total of 198 Omicron cases have been found so far, in HCM City (97), Quảng Nam (27), Quảng Ninh (20), Hà Nội (14), Khánh Hòa (11), Đà Nẵng (8 ), Hưng Yên (6), Kiên Giang (4), Thanh Hóa (2), Hải Dương (2), Hải Phòng (1), Long An (1), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (1), Bình Dương (2), Lâm Đồng (1) and Ninh Bình (1).

Sixty-six COVID-related deaths were registered on Wednesday, taking the number of overall fatalities to 39,118, accounting for 1.5 per cent of total infections.

There were a further 6,882 recoveries reported, bringing the total number of people given the all-clear to 2,249,155.

Nearly 187 million vaccine doses have been administered in the country to date, with approximately 75 million people receiving two doses and more than 32 million having a third booster shot. — VnExpress News
