Silversea Cruises to carry 1,000 foreign tourists to Vietnam

Four luxury vessels operated by Silversea Cruises will bring around 1,000 foreign tourists to Vietnam from December, signaling the busy year-end international tourism.

Silversea Cruises, a luxury cruise line headquartered in Monaco, currently has two service providers in Vietnam.

Its first ship would arrive in Vietnam next month and more in January to March next year, carrying 1,000 multi-national passengers expected to visit famous tourist destinations like Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Ha Long and the Mekong Delta destinations, Voice of Vietnam reported.

Silversea’s upcoming Asia season comprises 25 voyages that last 10 to 20 days, it announced on its website.

Barbara Muckermann, chief commercial officer at Silversea Cruises, said: “Asia has long constituted an important sailing region for Silversea Cruises and our guests are eager to return to this enriching, rewarding continent with us.”

Silversea Cruises described Vietnam as “a sensory melting-pot of the region’s very best charms.”

In recent years, luxury river cruises have become a popular tourism product for international visitors to Vietnam.

The country reopened its borders to foreign tourists in mid-March this year and has welcomed over 2.35 million foreign visitors, less than half of this year’s five-million target.

The number of international tourists passing through Vietnamese ports in January-October was just 745, a 49% year-on-year increase, but indicating a sluggish recovery.
