$109 mln state funding to support HCMC infrastructure development


The central government has agreed to grant Ho Chi Minh City VND2.5 trillion ($109 million) to improve traffic infrastructure, its environment and build a new hospital.

The fund will come from the state budget and official development assistance (ODA) loans.

They comprise projects to build the An Phu intersection in Thu Duc City at the cost of VND365 billion, rebuild HCMC Children’s Hospital at VND283 billion, enlarge National Highway 50 in Binh Chanh District at VND120 billion, and upgrade Tham Luong-Ben Cat-Nuoc Len Canal in outlying Binh Tan District, an area known for heavy pollution, at VND1 trillion.

The remaining five projects funded by government ODA loans would improve the environment surrounding Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe, Doi – Te, Tau Hu and Ben Nghe canals (VND190 billion), finish the second phase of the city’s Environmental Sanitation Project that aims to complete the system of wastewater collection and treatment (VND400 billion), offer technical support for the city’s green traffic development project (VND50 billion), renovate old and degraded sewer lines (VND11 billion), and construct Metro Line No. 1 (VND60 billion).
