Who are invited to Prince Mateen of Brunei’s wedding?

Prince Mateen of Brunei’s wedding has been confirmed to be attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and the appearance of numerous other royals and politicians is also expected.

As reported by Antara News, Indonesian President Joko Widodo intends to join Prince Mateen’s wedding as part of his official tour across Southeast Asian nations.

“The agenda will be in the context of a state visit to fulfill the invitation of the Sultan of Brunei and reciprocate his earlier visit to Indonesia,” stated Ari Dwipayana, the Indonesian coordinator of the Presidential Special Staff.

Dwipayana further noted that President Jokowi’s planned trip to Brunei seeks to strengthen the already robust ties and collaboration between Indonesia and the sultanate.

Although the guest list for the royal wedding remains under wraps, it is anticipated that numerous royals and politicians beside the Indonesian President will be in attendance.

The South China Morning Post reports that given the presence of Prince Mateen and his father, the Sultan of Brunei, at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in 2023, as well as Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in 2022, the likelihood of at least one member of the British royal family attending the celebration is high.

As per People Magazine, beginning Jan. 7, Prince Mateen of Brunei’s ongoing royal wedding promises a lavish 10-day celebration. The prince and his bride Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic have already partaken in multiple ceremonies, including the Khatam Quran event on Monday, the Berbedak Mandi or powdering ceremony on Wednesday, and the solemnization at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on Thursday.

A banquet is set to be held on Sunday and expected to be attended by royalty and politicians from around the world.

Prince Mateen, 32, is a helicopter pilot and a major in the Royal Brunei Air Force. He represented his country in polo at the 2017 and 2019 SEA Games.

He was listed among Asia’s top 50 most eligible bachelors by Hong Kong’s Tatler Magazine in 2016. His royal bride Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic, 29, is a University of Bath graduate and an entrepreneur.

She currently runs Silk Collective, a fashion brand, and Authentirary, a tourism company offering cultural experiences.

Coming from a noble family, her grandfather Pehin Dato Isa is the Sultan of Brunei’s special advisor and held significant roles in Brunei’s government in the 1960s and 1970s.

Her brother Danial Deen Isa-Kalebic is reportedly a close friend of Prince Mateen, and her sister-in-law Janetira Attaskulchai Deen is part of Thailand’s Attaskulchai family, known for their yogurt empire Betagen.
