VN-Index hits 7-session low


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 2.22% to 997.15 points Friday, lowest since October 26.

The index closed 22.66 points lower after losing 3.38 points on Thursday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 64% to VND12.91 trillion ($519.19 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 23 tickers dropped.

Five blue chips hit the floor, comprising MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, NVL of real estate developer Novaland Group, SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation, KDH of real estate firm Khang Dien House and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development.

Other losers included GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group, down 6.3%, and ACB of Asia Commercial Bank, down 5.6%.

Four blue chips rose, led by CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank with a 3.8% gain.

It was followed by MBB of lender MB, BID of state-owned lender BIDV and TPB of private TPBank.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND10.86 billion, mainly selling HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and HDB of HDBank.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 2.93% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 1.8%.
