VinCSS’s global FDO pioneer vision

VinCSS, a global leader in FIDO Device Onboarding (FDO), has transformed from a startup to a beacon of innovation in the IoT industry.

FDO – Revolutionizing IoT security

According to Techjury and Mordor Intelligence, the IoT industry is booming and expected to reach 29.42 billion active devices by 2023, driving consumer IoT revenues to approximately US$555.92 billion. This growth, however, amplifies security concerns, prompting a surge in IoT security solutions. The global IoT security market is also projected to grow to US$20.98 billion by 2028, with the Asia-Pacific region leading this demand.

The deployment of IoT devices presents unique challenges, particularly in terms of cost and complexity. Amidst these challenges, the FIDO Alliance’s IoT Technology Working Group, featuring experts from leading tech companies such as ARM, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, Intel, Infineon, and Qualcomm, developed the FIDO Device Onboarding (FDO) standard.

FDO offers an industry-standard solution for secure and efficient IoT device onboarding. FDO simplifies and secures the initial setup and integration of IoT devices, ensuring both ease of use and enhanced security for large-scale deployments.

Journey of humility, challenges, and major milestones

VinCSS embarked on an ambitious FDO journey in January 2021, establishing a team that quickly faced and overcame challenges, including the discontinuation of its first FDO project in April 2021.

Despite the complexities brought on by the pandemic in May 2021, the team released their first FDO libraries for NodeJS by August 2021.

May 2022 marked a milestone with the launch of VinCSS’s comprehensive FDO Ecosystem, featuring intuitive UI/UX, robust APIs, and CLI support. This was followed by the release of the FDO Client SDK in August 2022.

In November 2022, VinCSS’s collaboration with Pavana, a Vietnamese camera ODM, led to the creation of the first FDO-enabled camera, a major advancement in applying FDO to consumer electronics.

A year later, VinCSS returned to the FIDO Tokyo Seminar, displaying their products and services, now also promoted by their Japanese partners, showcasing their successful market entry and recognition as a global pioneer in FDO technology.

Expanding horizons: Korea and Japan

The journey impressed business representatives and experts in the field at both the FIDO Alliance Seoul Public Seminar in Korea and the FIDO Tokyo Seminar in Japan early this month.

With these achievements in hand, VinCSS set its sights on two of Asia’s most challenging and tech-savvy markets: Korea and Japan.

These markets are known for their high standards in technology adoption and cybersecurity. Entering and establishing a foothold in these markets is reflective of VinCSS’s confidence in its innovative solutions and global ambitions, and commitment to cybersecurity.

Future vision

Backed by a strong foundation in FDO technology, a proven track record of innovation, and successful entry into challenging markets like Korea and Japan, VinCSS holds a clear and unwavering vision of leading the way in global FDO. As the company continues to break new ground, its journey from zero to pioneer in the FDO field stands as a powerful narrative of innovation, adaptability, and commitment to cybersecurity.
