Vietnam thrash Timor Leste 6-0 in Women’s AFF Cup

Vietnam rose to the top of Group B of the 2022 Women’s Cup after defeating Timor Leste 6-0 Monday.

Due to heavy rain, the match between the two teams took place 30 minutes later than the official schedule.

In this match, coach Mai Duc Chung’s goal was to score as many goals as possible to create a big goal difference to take the top group spot back from Myanmar.

The surface was slippery, the ball was wet, and Vietnamese players couldn’t deploy the familiar ball control game and instead switched to play long balls.

In the first half, the Vietnamese girls had four goals scored by Huynh Nhu (two goals), Van Su, and Tuyet Dung.

Entering the second half, Chung let some young players sub in.

In this round, the Vietnamese girls had two more goals thanks to Su and Thuy Trang to seal a 6-0 victory.

Having beaten Cambodia and Laos earlier, the Vietnamese women’s team now top Group B with nine points and a total of 14 goals scored, surpassing Myanmar with nine points but 11 goals.

This can be considered an advantage for Vietnam before their last match of Group B against Myanmar, which will take place at 6 p.m Wednesday.

The AFF Championship is being played in Manila from July 4 to 17.
