Vietnam records 43,271 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities confirmed 43,271 new Covid-19 patients on Monday in 61 provinces and cities.

The day’s infection tally includes over 31,000 cases detected in the north central province of Thanh Hoa on previous days but yet to be added to the national database.

The addition made Thanh Hoa the locality with the most cases on Monday (31,345), followed by Hanoi with 1,109 and Yen Bai with 715.

In the past 24 hours, 13 deaths were confirmed, raising the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 42,957, or 0.4 percent of the total infection.

The average number of new infections recorded in the past week was 19,380 cases per day, down 53 percent compared to the previous week.

In the fourth wave that started last year, over 10.4 million cases have been detected and more than 8.9 million have recovered.
