Should I hire baby-sitter for $300 so I can go to work?

I will need a domestic helper to take care of my six-month-old son if I go back to work, and hiring one will cost me around VND7.5 million (US$308).

As a 25-year-old foreign language specialist, I am afraid that my language skills will deteriorate if I do not use them for a long time.

Since both my parents and my in-laws live in their hometowns, neither of them can help me take care of my baby if I go back to work.

The problem is my husband and I earn cumulatively VND26 million now, while our current monthly household expenses cost VND21 million, so we do not really have a budget for a nanny. But if I go back to work, I will have a chance to earn more, since my company will have a salary review soon.

Still, I contemplate a lot, as the winter has arrived and my son can get sick easily. So I am worried and not at ease about leaving my child with a domestic helper. On the other hand, not going back to work now may affect my skills and make it difficult for me to find a job later.

What should I do?
