My husband discovered I’m secretly rich

My husband recently discovered what I’d been hiding from him: I have a secret VND2 billion ($81,317) in my account.

My husband and I have always had separate finances. He manages his parents’ business and keeps a specific amount that he earns from it.

I accidentally revealed that I had over VND2 billion in my personal funds to my husband. Throughout our 5 years of marriage, my husband has never given me a single penny.

He told me that he would only give me money when I need to spend it on something. I only dare to ask for money to spend on our child and for food, but never for myself.

I make good money thanks to my online business, but I have never disclosed how much I earn to anyone. It’s just that my husband has never told me how much money he makes, so I don’t feel compelled to tell him either.

Finance is such a sensitive subject that we don’t want to talk about it much. However, in the heat of the moment, I accidentally told my husband that I had over VND2 billion in my personal account.

A few days later, my mother-in-law called, asking me how much money I had and she suggested buying a house and land. I was surprised because nobody had ever asked me that. It turned out that my husband told his mother about it. They usually talk on the phone for 30 minutes a day.

A few days later, my father-in-law called to tell me a story out of nowhere. The story was obviously made up: he has a friend whose daughter has an online business.

She makes VND150 million per month. My father-in-law had no idea how she managed to make that much so he was planning to go ask her about it. I told him that it is normal to make that much through online business.

I gave birth right after getting married. My mother-in-law has twice accused me of “leeching off [their] family” and many other things, even though we don’t live with them.

My parents-in-law say that I am a useless stay-at-home mom that relies on my husband for money. My parents have invited my husband’s parents over many times, but they always come up with excuses to decline.

They have invited a bunch of their distant relatives over, but they always exclude my parents. My parents-in-law always do the opposite of what they preach.

What should I do now?
