Miss World Vietnam 2022 Mai Phuong has apologized for her TikTok posts that have been criticized as ‘rebellious’, and ‘lack of sophistication on social media.’
Mai Phuong admitted on January 26 that her recent online persona had “room for improvement” and that she was sorry that some of her actions had caused fans and well-wishers to be concerned for her public image.
“I’m not perfect, sometimes I’m childish,” the 23-year-old-beauty queen said. The international pageant contestant was responding to anonymous online criticism of a video in which she danced to vibrant music with a TikToker while wearing a sexy outfit and sucking a candy.
Phuong explained to those unaware of the beauty industry that part of her job requirement was to stir up excitement and promote events.
In response to allegations of being “rebellious,” Mai Phuong said she loves dynamism. She said that she chooses each public outfit she wears in line with what is suitable for the nature and space of each individual and different event.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, she also infuriated the online masses when in an online post she wore a Vietnamese “ao dai” (traditional long tunic dress) accompanied by a song that contained the words “Chinese New Year.” She was criticized for a “lack of sophistication” and quickly removed the post.

Five months after being crowned Miss World Vietnam 2022 in August last year, Mai Phuong said she is experiencing a meaningful youth.
At present, she is focusing on preparing to attend the international beauty contest Miss World 2023 in May. “The beauty queen title gives me opportunities to go to many places. I hope that wherever I go, I not only work but also contribute to volunteering and charity,” she said.
