A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Ho Chi Minh City for running a transnational prostitution ring involving beauty queens and models.
Le Hoang Long, a native of northern Hai Phong City, is under investigation for “brokering sex services.”
Police said he is the manager of several Vietnamese artists and a representative of some South Korean artists operating in Vietnam.
Thanks to his showbiz connections, Long was found to have operated a transnational prostitution ring to connect models and beauty queens with customers.
Police tracked Long down after catching two women providing sexual services at a high-end hotel in downtown HCMC on Aug. 25.
Long admitted to being the broker.
“The women are famous and have won titles at several beauty pageants,” he said.
For the pair, he charged customers $15,000 each and paid the women VND60 million ($2,570) per head.
He also told police he had linked several foreign women with local men at the price of tens of thousands of dollars.
According to police, such conduct is typical of showbiz, in which beauty queens, actresses, and models are often offered to rich men.
