Ho Chi Minh City ranked second in a list of 10 most searched travel destinations by Americans this year after London, according to Google Flights data.
Google has just released a list of the top 10 trending destinations that saw the highest year-over-year growth in searches on its online flight booking service called Google Flights.
The list is comprised of trips departing from the United States between January 1 and September 30 and searches done during that same time frame.
Paris was third on the list, followed by New Delhi and Toronto.
The rest of the top 10 were Rome, Mumbai, Vancouver, Lisbon and New York.
“Vietnam reopened to tourism in early 2022, while other traditionally popular countries like Japan and China remained shut,” CNN reported, citing a source from Google. “That could explain why Ho Chi Minh City placed high on Google Flights trending list.” Vietnam reopened its borders to tourism on March 15.
The United States sent the second highest number of visitors to Vietnam after South Korea since the country reopened to foreign tourists.
