ĐỒNG NAI — The Southern province of Đồng Nai will launch a series of cultural and tourism events and products in 2025 to lure tourists and promote its tourism.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Hồng Lĩnh asked the steering committee on tourism development and relevant agencies to plan for festivities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30) next year.

The activities could be an air-balloon festival at Trị An Reservoir, an artificial lake located on Đồng Nai River, and a ceramics festival featuring unique products from craft villages in the province and neighbouring provinces.

There may be a street festival with performances of around 3,000 brass artists who are serving at local churches.

He also asked the steering committee and local authorities to build tourism routes connecting Long Thành International Airport with Đà Lạt City in the Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) province of Lâm Đồng, Phan Thiết City in coastal province of Bình Thuận, and Hồ Tràm Beach in Xuyên Mộc District of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province.

Phase 1 of the airport is projected to be put into operation in 2026, with a daily capacity of 257,000 passengers. In phase 2, the airport will serve 300,000 passengers every day.

Lĩnh said Đồng Nai needs to prepare infrastructure, facilities, and tourism products, and be ready to serve tourists coming to the province via Long Thành International Airport.

According to the province’s People’s Committee, Đồng Nai welcomed more than 2.1 million visitors in the first seven months of the year, up 17.5 per cent over the same period last year.

Total tourism revenue was VNĐ1.35 trillion (US$53.9 million), up 29.1 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The province is working on new projects such as a tourism area at Mai Waterfall in Định Quán District, and a tourism complex at Chứa Chan Mountain and Núi Le Lake in Xuân Lộc District, to attract visitors. — VNS
