Da Nang plans second firefighting robot

Vietnam’s central city plans to spend VND70 billion (US$2.75 million) to invest in 17 additional firefighting and rescue vehicles for high-rise buildings and apartments, including one robot.

The sum, extracted from the city’s budget. is to buy nine water supply fire trucks, seven trucks to transport firefighting equipment, five sets of rescue equipment for confined spaces such as rescue pulleys and ropes, and one firefighting robot, according to a plan submitted to the city People’s Council.

Early last year, the Ministry of Public Security provided the Da Nang Police Department with a firefighting robot manufactured by a German company, capable of spraying water up to 80 m high, with a spraying capacity of 4,700 liters per minute, and remotely controlled within a radius of 300 meters.

According to the local authorities, there are currently over 200 buildings with 10 floors or higher in the city, including various types of apartments, offices, hotels, and condominiums. Among them, the city’s 34-story administrative center is 167 meters high, and many hotel complexes range around the same height.

High-rise buildings frequently gather large crowds and have a high risk of fire or explosion. Rescue operations in such buildings are often complicated, leading to serious consequences for lives and property in the event of a fire or explosion.
