Capella Hanoi one of Asia’s 10 new standout hotels: NYT

The New York Times has listed Capella Hanoi, which opened in 2021 amid the Covid pandemic, among 10 “new standout hotels in Asia.”

Standing on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, just a few steps from the iconic Hanoi Opera House, the hotel has 47 rooms and suites, each individually styled with operatic artefacts and custom portraiture that pay tribute to legendary Opera artists, composers, designers and performances.

“On a quiet, leafy boulevard in the city’s capital […] Capella Hanoi conjures the glamour and high society of opera in the Roaring Twenties,” the paper said.

“At the Backstage restaurant, opera costumes set the scene for fresh takes on Northern Vietnamese cuisine, while at Diva’s Lounge, cocktails and Vietnamese-inspired tapas can be savored against a backdrop of mirrors and red velvet curtains.”

A night’s stay costs from $380 per person.

The NYT list also included Six Senses Bumthang in Bhutan, TRIBE Phnom Penh Post Office in Cambodia, Moxy Shanghai Xuhui in China, Raffles Udaipur in India, Hoshino Resort KAI Yufuin in Japan, The Clan Hotel in Singapore, While Josun Palace in South Korea, Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club in Thailand and Buahan in Indonesia.
