Flights from Singapore to various Asian cities canceled due to Typhoon Gaemi

A series of flights connecting Singapore with Asia’s major tourism cities were canceled due to the impacts of Typhoon Gaemi that barreled through Taiwan and the Philippines before hitting southern China.

Two Xiamen Airlines flights between Singapore and China’s Fuzhou City were suspended on Thursday as the typhoon made landfall in Fujian province, bringing heavy rains and strong winds, The Straits Times reported.

Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province in southeastern China, also suspended passenger train services from Thursday.

Three flights between Singapore and Taipei were also canceled on Thursday.

Typhoon Gaemi swept through Taiwan on Wednesday, killing at least two people and leaving 200 others injured.

Though the typhoon did not make landfall in the Philippines, it caused heavy rains and flooding in the capital city of Manila and paralyzed traffic.

Philippines’ low-cost airline Cebu Pacific canceled its flights between Manila and Singapore on Thursday.

Dozens of flights from Singapore scheduled to depart on Thursday and Friday have also been delayed, according to Changi Airport’s website.
