France beat Morocco 2-0 to advance to World Cup final

Goals by Kolo Muani and Theo Hernandez sent France to the 2022 World Cup final, where they will face Argentina.

France set up a heavyweight World Cup final against Argentina after an early goal by Theo Hernandez and a late one from Randal Kolo Muani, which ended Morocco’s dream run via a 2-0 victory.

Hernandez stretched high in the fifth minute to open the scoring after a scramble in the box.

That was the first time that Morocco have conceded to an opposition player in the tournament.

Despite the early injuries to two defenders, Morocco fought back well but couldn’t find a goal due to Hugo Lloris’ brilliance, who saved Jawad El Yamiq’s overhead kick at the end of the first half.

However, missed chances and France’s excellent defense shut down Morocco’s hope for a comeback in the second half.

In the 80th minute, Thuram and Mbappe set up for the substitution Kolo Muani to secure the 2-0 win for France, ending Morocco’s incredible run at the tournament.

France became the first defending champions to reach successive finals since Brazil in 2002 and can now look forward to Sunday’s showdown when they will bid to follow Brazil (1962) and Italy (1938) as the third team to retain the title.
