The studio’s first commercial collection consists of a variety of accessories, stationery and other home items.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City, LAITA is a multidisciplinary design and creative studio. The studio, which specializes in furniture design, recently released its first commercial collection.
According to a studio representative, every year, tens of thousands of new furniture products are introduced at various furniture shows throughout the world. There are several new designs of the same items being created.
“Everyone seems to design similar things. This is the motivation why LAITA decided to turn to multi-disciplinary, rather than focusing on furniture when launching first commercial collection.
LAITA believes that designers have a responsibility to do something more intriguing and helpful”, said LAITA’s representative.
LAITA pop-up store is totally encased by wood in an 80-square-meter space. Wooden panels cover the entire ceiling and floor. Customers are invited to interact with colorful and multi-material items placed throughout the store or hung on the walls.

Escher rugs are available in four different varieties at the store, all inspired by the works of Maurits Cornelis Escher, a Dutch graphic designer. The carpets are available in single pieces as well as in combinations, similar to jigsaw pieces, to cover greater sections of space.

LAITA also offers the Coral ladder and Rio plant pot, both of which feature brilliant colors and distinctive shapes. To minimize slipping, the ladder body is bent toward the wall and can be used as both a ladder or shelf. At each end of the ladder, four hooks resemble coral tentacles. The upper ones serve as handrails or hooks for hand tools, while the lower ones keep the ladder steady.
Besides, RIO plant pot has a unique appearance thanks to its parabolic shape and four slightly curved legs. RIO is made of stainless steel and powder-coated for indoor and outdoor use. Users can personalize and arrange a variety of plants due to the length of the container.

The 16:3 table is the biggest item in this collection. The dining table is made up of 16 timber planks properly cut and fitted together to form the table’s base. Four supporting legs are fastened within the base without any bindings.
In addition, LAITA offers several small furniture items made of wood and other traditional materials. The rattan collection contains bespoke rattan furniture, consisting of Lounge Chair Thun, Rocking Chair Nge and Tagi Bench.

The uniqueness of any product, according to LAITA’s designers, is in its utility, therefore they observe everyday activities to discover how to design a useful and exciting new product.
LAITA studio has recently won two prestigious furniture design awards: Red Dot 2020 – Design Concept and iF Design Award2021. The studio was also named in the Emerging Design Studio category of the Dezeen Awards 2021 Longlist.
