World’s biggest cruise ship to make first-ever voyage on Jan 27

Royal Caribbean’s luxurious vessel Icon of the Seas, dubbed the world’s biggest cruise ship, will begin its maiden voyage from Floria’s Miami on Jan. 27 after finishing final steps of safety inspections.

The 365-meter-long vessel was seen arriving in Ponce, Puerto Rico last week for “regulatory inspections” to prepare for its first voyage, CNN reported.

The vessel, capable of carrying up to 5,610 guests and 2,350 crew members, will arrive in Miami on Jan. 9.

It is now preparing to welcome passengers for its maiden voyage, a seven-day trip around the Caribbean.

According to Royal Caribbean, the vessel will offer year-round Eastern or Western Caribbean adventures from Miami, with popular tourist attractions such as St. Maarten, Mexico, St. Thomas and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, on the itinerary.

Room rates vary depending on the schedule and travel dates. The highest-priced journey is a Western Caribbean cruise on Feb. 17, 2024, with the cheapest room starting at $1,581 per person and a suite at $3,443 per person.

A seven-night trip to the Eastern Caribbean on Oct. 19, 2024, starts at $1,007 per person, while a more luxurious room costs $2,879.
