Woman suffers head injury after leaning out of moving train in Thailand

A 19-year-old woman narrowly escaped serious injury when her head hit a pole as she leaned out of a moving train in southern Thailand.

In a video shared on social media, the woman was attempting to create content for social media while holding onto the grab bars outside the train cabin, according to the Bangkok Post.

As the train departed from the station, her head collided with a pole next to the tracks. She momentarily lost her balance but managed to hold onto the bars before eventually falling onto the tracks. The train, moving at a slow speed, continued on its way.

The State Railway of Thailand confirmed that the incident occurred on Aug. 5, shortly after the train departed from Ban Ton Don station in Phatthalung province, around 850 kilometers from Bangkok, according to The Straits Times.

The agency said the woman was taken to Phatthalung Hospital for treatment. Despite experiencing swelling on her head, an X-ray showed no serious injuries, and she was later released.
