HCM CITY — The University of Economics HCM City (UEH) and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) will collaborate on linking training and research in communication and design with ground realities.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday (May 12) by the university and the VNA’s representative office in the south.

The two parties will exchange and share resources for training programmes and jointly implement communication projects, events and programmes.

Students will be able to use modern equipment for learning and practical research, and participate directly in communication projects implemented by the VNA office.

Nguyễn Đông Phong, chairman of UEH University Council, said: “We are restructuring to become a sustainable and multidisciplinary university, aiming to increase our visibility and influence on society as a world-class higher education institution in the region and the world.”

“We will strive to be firmly established in Việt Nam, and gradually, the regional and global markets in terms of human resource training, scientific research and international publication,” Phong said.

UEH has three member colleges: College of Business, College of Economics – Law and Government, and College of Technology and Design (CTD).

The signing of the MoU is part of “immense steps forward, contributing to the strategic mission of the university in the 2021-25 period and beyond to become a leading multidisciplinary university in the fields of training, research and consulting in economics, business, law, management and technology,” Phong said.

The university marked the occasion by conferring a Honorary Doctorate on Dr. Park Young June, former Deputy Minister of Knowledge Economy, Korea, and appointed him as Honorary Rector of UEH’s CTD.

Park said CTD will definitely become an academy for nurturing future talents in Việt Nam.

“UEH is the hope and the future of Việt Nam and we will make and achieve the mission bigger and faster by working with Korea,” he said.

“I have a strong interest in nurturing global talents for the future of both countries,” he added.

UEH also officially launched the School of Media and Design and signed MoUs with South Korean companies Ync, Nuriplan, Usion HKR and Taelim on strategic collaboration in the fields of green energy, technology and sustainable development, design and communication.

A series of activities themed “Transforming for Sustainability” is taking place at the university on May 12-13, including seminars, signing of cooperation agreements as well as forging a network of experts and professional organisations in the area. — – VnExpress News
