VN-Index slips after 2 gaining sessions


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 0.19% to 1256.5 points Wednesday.

The index closed 2.4 points lower after gaining 2.1 points Tuesday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) fell by 9.87% to VND14.39 trillion ($615.35 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 24 tickers dropped.

BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank both fell 1.4%.

Other losers included STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank, CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank, and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group, losing 1.2-1.4%.

Six blue chips gained, including KDH of real estate firm Khang Dien House and SAB of brewer Sabeco, both rose 1%.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND50 billion, mainly buying HDB of HDBank and IDC of construction firm Idico corporation.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.71% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.27%.
