VN-Index slips 7 points


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 0.61% to 1,240.77 points Wednesday.

The index closed 7.6 points lower after losing 1.2 points on Tuesday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 12.57% to VND14.35 trillion ($608.26 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 24 tickers dropped.

SAB of brewer Sabeco fell 3.7%, and HDB of HDBank lost 2.7%.

Other losers included VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, down 2.2%, and CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank, down 1.8%.

Two blue chips gained: SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation rose 1.4%, and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail went up 0.5%.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND54.03 billion, mainly selling VHM of real estate giant Vinhomes and KBC of industrial real estate developer Kinh Bac City.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 0.77% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.27%.
