Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.34% to 1,154.68 points Friday in its sixth consecutive session gaining.
The index closed 3.96 points higher after gaining 6.55 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 36% to VND16.30 trillion ($668.85 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers gained.
STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank rose 2.4%, followed by MBB of lender MB, up 2%.
BID of state-owned lender BIDV and GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group both gained 1.9%.
Eleven blue chips were in the red. POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation fell 1.3%, while SAB of brewer Sabeco dropped 0.8%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND420 billion, mainly selling VHM of property giant Vinhomes and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.09%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.19%.
