Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.29% to 1,059.44 points Thursday in its eighth straight session in the green.
The index closed 3.11 points higher after gaining 2.04 points on Wednesday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 33.03% to VND11.04 trillion ($470.08 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 17 tickers gain.
HDB of HDBank led with a 3.3% gain, followed by VHM of property giant Vinhomes, up 3.2%.
STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank went up 2.6% and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex gained 2.5%.
Eight blue chips fell.
POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation and TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank both lost 1.1%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND412.33 billion, mainly selling STB and SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.18% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.31%.
