Vivo says software incompatibility caused ID card damage

Vivo has admitted that the software running its near-field communications component is not compatible with Vietnam’s ID card chips, and issued an update to fix the problem.

The Chinese smartphone maker said in a statement that the incompatibility issue mostly arises with Vivo smartphones produced for the Chinese market and brought to Vietnam.

The issue prevents these phones from making an NFC contact with Vietnam’s ID card chips, it said.

The company has issued an update which some users have received on their smartphones.
