Hanoi will send 200 teachers with an IELTS score of 6.5 to go train at an Australian university for 14 days in December, the municipal People’s Committee said.
The 200 teachers would be split into 10 classes and be trained in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. They would also create English-teaching curriculums with the application of information technologies, as well as exchange experiences regarding the organization of skills classes, according to the committee.
Among the 200 teachers, the youngest is 24-year-old and the oldest, 53. Most are around 30.
Fees for the training course would be derived from the national budget reserved for training government workers and officials of Hanoi People’s Committee.
Hanoi aims for half of its teachers to have IELTS listening and speaking scores of at least 6.5 by 2025, and for half of its math and science teachers to be able to use English to teach students.
