HÀ NỘI — A convincing victory over U20 Chinese Taipei on Monday helped the U20 Vietnamese women’s volleyball team finish fifth at the ongoing U20 Asian Championship in China, thereby winning the right to attend the 2025 U21 World Cup for the first time.

Việt Nam defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 (25-17; 25-19; 25-15) in the match.

According to the distribution of the World Volleyball Federation, Asia was awarded four spots to participate in the 2025 U21 World Cup. The teams from Japan, China, South Korea and Thailand, who reached the semi-finals of the ongoing U20 Women’s Asian Cup, secured these slots. However, as the reigning U21 women’s world champion, China already had a priority spot, without needing that qualification from Asia.

Therefore, the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) decided to allocate the fifth-ranked team the right to compete in the 2025 U21 World Cup. This is the first time the Vietnamese women’s U20 volleyball team has won the right to participate in this world event. VNS
