Vietnam tourism searches grow at 7th fastest rate in the world

The number of searches of Vietnam tourism between April and June grew at the seventh fastest rate globally.

Turkey topped the list, followed by Greece, Croatia, India, Italy, and Spain, according to data from Google’s Destination Insights.

Vietnam was the only Southeast Asian country in the top 10.

The 10 countries with the highest number of tourism-related searches of Vietnam were the U.S., Japan, Australia, India, South Korea, Singapore, the U.K., Malaysia, Germany, and France.

Ho Chi Minh City was the most searched destination by international visitors, followed by Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang.

The number of searches about Vietnam was four times compared to a year earlier when Vietnam had just reopened its borders after Covid.

In the first five months of this year the country received 4.6 million international visitors, more than half this year’s target of 8 million but just 63% of pre-pandemic levels.

Lawmakers will vote this Saturday on a bill that seeks to extend the validity of e-visas from 30 days to three months and allow multiple entry.
