Vietnam to auction gasoline from national reserve amid shortage reports

The government is set to auction 102 million tons of RON 92 gasoline from the national reserves this month to increase supply amid reports of shortages in some places.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has sought approval from the Ministries of Finance and Planning and Investment to sell it at VND14,058 ($0.62) per liter.

RON 92 is used to make the E5 RON 92 biofuel, one of the two main varieties of gasoline sold in Vietnam.

On Monday, the retail price of the popular RON 95 gasoline was hiked by nearly 3.8 percent to a new high of VND26,280 per liter.
