Vietnam GameVerse begins

The two-day festival is held at the Phu Tho Indoor Sport Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 15,000 participants.

Many guests came early for registration and check-in.

Le Quang, 26, from Binh Chanh District, said he wants to visit all of the game booths for interesting gifts.

Nguyen Binh, 23, from Dong Nai Province, traveled more than 100 km with a group of friends to enjoy a classic game series of VNG, VTC, and Garena. He is eagerly waiting for the live eSports match that will be held Sunday.

The 3,000-square-meter stadium is divided into five activity zones for Game Expo, Game Forum, Game Arena, Game Awards 2023 and Game Workshop.

Game Expo zone displays 17 service and product booths from giants such as VNG, VTC, Gosu, Gamota, OTA Network, Garena, and Funtap. A series of interactive activities will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the two event days.

Guests can participate in games like lucky draw, cosplay and themed performance games, or check in and scan QR code to receive gifts including headphones, thermos bottles, T-shirts, mouse pads, game codes, 10-piece survival kits, GamePad, and FPS game buttons.

The Game Forum that started at 9:30 a.m Saturday gathers leaders of agencies, game publishers, game studios, and gamers to discuss opportunities, challenges, trends, and other issues in the industry.

At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, VTC representatives will talk about Vietnamese game market; foreign investment and start-up business support in the industry at Game Workshop.

The Game Arena will be held in the afternoon of the two event days, including PC game Truth Arena competition on the first day at 3 p.m., and Lien Quan Mobile on the second day (from 2p.m. to 4p.m.).

Both of these matches will go live on GameVerse 2023 landing page.

Game Awards 2023 on the evening of April 1 will announce the top 14 award categories, including the Game of the Year, and other awards for excellent publishers, products, services, communities, teams, and gamers.

The second day of the event will begin at 9 a.m. with a Game Workshop to introduce latest game projects.

Cosplay Contest that will start half an hour later will decide the winner among the top 10 outstanding contestants.

Vietnam GameVerse is part of the Vietnam Game Festival that has been hosted since February to boost the Vietnamese game market.

“The size of Vietnam GameVerse is comparable to that of the major game festivals in Korea and China. The event gives domestic companies the opportunity to exchange experience to go global, while attracting big players in the world to invest in Vietnamese games,” said Pham Van Thanh, Director of VTC Game.

Vietnam Game Festival is jointly organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications, VnExpress newspaper and Vietnam Game Union.
