Vietnam coach visits New Zealand stadium to prepare for Women’s World Cup

To prepare the best for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, coach Mai Duc Chung has visited Eden Park Stadium in New Zealand, where Vietnam will play the U.S.

Chung and members of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) came to Eden Park on Monday. This is New Zealand’s biggest stadium with a capacity of 50,000.

“Playing here will be an exciting experience. In the past, the Vietnam national women’s football team got the chance to play in some beautiful stadiums and this one is no exception. The rooms are well-connected and equipped. To play in a high-quality stadium with the world’s top teams will be a great motivation for the players and they will have the chance to improve,” Chung said.

Vietnam will play the defending champions U.S. in Eden Park on July 22 next year. They will also face the Netherlands and a playoff winner in group E.

“We don’t know much about Vietnam but I know that they have been through a challenging journey in the qualifiers. It’ll surely be an interesting experience to play Vietnam in the opening game of Women’s World Cup. We are looking forward to knowing more about Vietnam,” U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski said.

Chung also visited Waitakere, the main training venue of the team and other training grounds along with hotels in Auckland.

“The training venues and stadiums here have the same level of quality. After taking a look at several locations, I feel quite good about the training and competing conditions here,” Chung added.
