A look at Australian search trends over the past 20 years reveals Vietnam ranks fourth in the list of most Googled tourist destinations after Japan, New Zealand and Thailand.
Rounding off the top 10 are Tasmania, Australia, Cambodia, Bali, New South Wales, and Borneo, Google data released to mark the company’s 20th anniversary in Australia this month shows.
The number of Australian visitors to Vietnam in September rose by 10% from the previous month to 17,413.
Over 33,000 of them have come to Vietnam since the country reopened its borders since mid-March after two years of closures due to Covid.
The Vietnamese government scrapped quarantine requirements in March.
It offers 30-day e-visas for citizens from 80 countries and territories, including Australia.
