Việt Nam logs record 169,114 coronavirus infections on Friday

HÀ NỘI — A record 169,114 new daily COVID-19 infections were confirmed in the country on Friday.

A further 71 COVID-related deaths were also announced.

The country’s COVID caseload since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5,448,935. In the last week, the country has reported an average of 153,998 new infections daily.

Among the new cases, 24 were imported and the rest domestic. A total of 112,937 of the transmissions were detected in the community.

The capital city of Hà Nội continues to top the daily case count with 31,899. 

Other localities reporting new transmissions were Nghệ An (11,057), Phú Thọ (6,352), Bắc Ninh (6,346), Bình Dương (5,574), Sơn La (4,728), Hưng Yên (4,324), Lạng Sơn (4,291), Hòa Bình (4,281), Hải Dương (4,035), Cà Mau (3,859), Tuyên Quang (3,838), Nam Định (3,494), Quảng Trị (3,462), Lào Cai (3,309), Hải Phòng (3,297), Đắk Lắk (3,218), HCM City (3,040), Bắc Giang (2,997), Quảng Ninh (2,919), Vĩnh Phúc (2,862), Bình Định (2,826), Thái Nguyên (2,724), Thái Bình (2,719), Điện Biên (2,709), Quảng Bình (2,708), Ninh Bình (2,569), Bình Phước (2,425), Lai Châu (2,419), Cao Bằng (2,386), Hà Nam (2,337), Bến Tre (2,090), Yên Bái (2,042), Khánh Hòa (1,693), Đà Nẵng (1,683), Đắk Nông (1,676), Phú Yên (1,586), Lâm Đồng (1,511), Tây Ninh (1,331), Thanh Hóa (1,292), Bắc Kạn (1,275), Vĩnh Long (1,098), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (1,096), Trà Vinh (969), Hà Tĩnh (896), Bình Thuận (810), Quảng Ngãi (690), Bạc Liêu (395), Kon Tum (380), Quảng Nam (322), Thừa Thiên Huế (311), Đồng Nai (205), Cần Thơ (174), Long An (170), Kiên Giang (106), An Giang (92), Đồng Tháp (54), Sóc Trăng (54), Ninh Thuận (41), Hậu Giang (33) and Tiền Giang (11).

Vĩnh Phúc Province registered an extra 19,326 infections recorded in the previous days.

The 71 fatalities were in Hà Nội (11), Phú Yên (4), Bắc Giang (3), Bình Định (3), Đồng Nai (3), Gia Lai (3), Hà Nam (3), Hải Dương (3), Quảng Bình (3), Quảng Ninh (3), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (2), Bắc Ninh (2), Điện Biên (2), Hà Giang (2), Hải Phòng (2), Hòa Bình (2), Kiên Giang (2), Lào Cai (2), Nam Định (2), Ninh Bình (2), Thái Nguyên (2), Bến Tre (1), Bình Dương (1), Bình Phước (1), Đồng Tháp (1), Hà Tĩnh (1), HCM City (1), Lạng Sơn (1), Thái Bình (1), Thanh Hóa (1) and Vĩnh Long (1).

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam is now 41,228, about 0.8 per cent of all infections.

According to the Ministry of Health, 3,990 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 317 requiring invasive ventilation and three on life support.

A further 74,857 patients were given the all-clear on Friday, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,983,222.

More than 199.27 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country to date. — VnExpress News
