A Vietnamese man died after falling down into the sea while standing at the prow of a tourist boat in Ha Long Bay last weekend.
On the afternoon of Saturday, the tourist boat Long Giang 68 went on tour to take 15 tourists around the world famous bay in northern Vietnam.
On its way back, a tourist named Nguyen Ngoc Phat came to stand at the boat’s prow.
As the boat was about to approach the Ha Long International Cruise Port, Phat, 43, fell into the water.
Other tourists on board threw lifebuoys into the water but failed to catch the man.
Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, rescuers found his body.
Police are working on the case and the boat has been suspended.
Ha Long Bay is one of the top tourist attractions in Vietnam.
Before the pandemic, the bay attracted 4.4 million tourists in 2019, including 2.9 million foreigners.
