Thai Vietjet to operate Bangkok-Phu Quoc direct flight

Thai Vietjet, a subsidiary of Vietnamese airline Vietjet Air, will launch a direct flight connecting Bangkok and Phu Quoc Island from Dec. 30.

The new direct route would allow Thai tourists to visit Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island off the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, under a vaccine passport trial program, with each paying for a four-day package tour priced at 22,900 baht ($679), the carrier stated.

During their holiday in Phu Quoc, visitors will be able to stay at VinHolidays Fiesta Phu Quoc Resort, as well as visit tourist attractions like Phu Quoc United Center, Sunworld Hon Thom with cable car service over Hon Thom Island and Aquatopia park, the leading modern water park in Southeast Asia.

All need to furnish certificates showing they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid and tested negative within 72 hours before departure from Thailand. They would undergo rapid Covid testing on the first day of arrival and the final day before leaving Phu Quoc.

They are required to install the IGOVN and PC-Covid health declaration applications on their smartphones while in Vietnam.

Kien Giang was one of five localities to get the green light from the government to welcome back fully immunized tourists from November onwards along with Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, and Da Nang.

Since the country reopened to foreign tourists last month, over 1,100 visitors had arrived by charter flights as of Dec. 6, with the tourism industry expecting 15,000 visitors this month.

Vietnam has approved the resumption of commercial flights to nine destinations on Jan. 1 including Bangkok.
