Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell 0.12% to 1,245.06 points Tuesday.
The index closed 1.54 points lower after gaining 4.49 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 21% to VND13.74 trillion ($543 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers fell.
PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex and POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation both fell 1.5%.
VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank dropped 1.4%.
VHM of property giant Vinhomes declined by 1.1%.
Eleven blue chips gained. MBB of lender MB led with a 1.7% increase, followed by MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, up 1.6%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND305 billion. They mainly net bought MWG and VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.69%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.23%.
