Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.72% to 1,242.11 points Friday.
The index closed 8.92 points higher after dropping 5.28 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 1% to VND11.853 trillion (US$468.4 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 22 tickers gained.
POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation went up 5.0%, BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development grew 4.9%, and MSN of conglomerate Masan Group closed 4.2% higher.
Three blue chips fell. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail saw a 2.0% decrease, VHM of property giant Vinhomes dropped 0.13% , and VJC of budget airline Vietjet was down 0.09%.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND380 billion, mainly buying KDC of food producer KIDO Group and FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.60%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.69%.
