Việt Nam registers 15,959 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday

HÀ NỘI — A total of 15,959 new COVID-19 patients were reported in Việt Nam on Wednesday, raising the total number since the start of the pandemic to 2,078,087.

Twenty-three of the infections were imported and the remaining were domestic. New cases were reported in 61 out of 63 provinces and cities across the country.

10,460 infections were detected in the community.

The capital city of Hà Nội led the list with 2,909 cases.

The other localities that reported new transmissions were Đà Nẵng (892), Khánh Hòa (652), Thanh Hóa (628), Trà Vinh (603), Hưng Yên (568), Bến Tre (561), Bình Phước (535), Quảng Ngãi (490), Bình Định (412), Cà Mau (379), Hải Dương (349), Vĩnh Phúc (338), Quảng Nam (336), Bắc Giang (302), Quảng Ninh (297), Bắc Ninh (288), Thừa Thiên Huế (277), Nam Định (274), Hồ Chí Minh (263), Vĩnh Long (251), Hòa Bình (251), Nghệ An (251), Tây Ninh (247), Lâm Đồng (245), Thái Nguyên (196), Thái Bình (187), Phú Thọ (180), Bạc Liêu (177), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (170), Phú Yên (164), Gia Lai (151), Bình Thuận (150), Lạng Sơn (131), Đắk Nông (127), Ninh Bình (126), Quảng Bình (118), Yên Bái (110), Hà Giang (109), Lào Cai (106), Hà Nam (99), Sơn La (99), Hậu Giang (97), Tuyên Quang (89), Đồng Nai (77), Đồng Tháp (75), Cần Thơ (71), Bình Dương (64), Quảng Trị (58), Hà Tĩnh (49), Long An (49), Lai Châu (44), Cao Bằng (43), An Giang (41), Kiên Giang (35), Điện Biên (35), Sóc Trăng (34), Ninh Thuận (30), Tiền Giang (30), Bắc Kạn (14) and Đắk Lắk (3).

Việt Nam has seen 108 cases of the Omicron variant so far, in Hà Nội (1), Quảng Nam (27), Hồ Chí Minh (68), Hải Dương (1), Hải Phòng (1), Thanh Hóa (2), Đà Nẵng (3), Khánh Hòa (2), Long An (1) and Quảng Ninh (2).

A total of 33,034 patients were declared recovered from the virus, meaning 1,789,188 people have been given the all-clear in the country so far.

A further 142 fatalities related to COVID-19 were announced, in HCM City (9), Đồng Tháp (16), Kiên Giang (12), Vĩnh Long (11), Bến Tre (10 ca trong 02 ngày), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (9 ca trong 02 ngày), Sóc Trăng (8 ), An Giang (8 ), Tiền Giang (7), Tây Ninh (6), Cần Thơ (5), Cà Mau (5), Hà Nội (4), Khánh Hòa (4), Long An (4), Bình Phước (3), Lâm Đồng (2), Hậu Giang (2), Bạc Liêu (2), Hải Phòng (2), Hòa Bình (2), Huế (2), Bắc Ninh (1), Quảng Nam (1), Bình Định (1), Đắk Lắk (1), Nam Định (1), Lào Cai (1), Nghệ An (1), Ninh Thuận (1) and Bình Thuận (1).

Việt Nam has seen 36,114 deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, making up 1.7 per cent of total patients and ranking 25th out of 224 countries and territories worldwide.
