Lee Kang-in, who’s playing for La Liga club Mallorca, wants South Korea to keep the momentum and beat Vietnam in the second game of group C in U23 Asian Cup.
South Korea earned a 4-1 victory over Malaysia on Thursday night and will face Vietnam Sunday night.
“We got a good result against a difficult opponent, but this is just the first match and South Korea want to keep it up in the next ones. There are some new players in the team and we will continue to work hard to get the same result in the next match against Vietnam,” Lee said.
Lee is confident that he will play even better under new coach Hwang Sun-hong.
“I always try to enjoy when I play football with my teammates. I think that is the most important value a player can bring to the team. I always try to focus on myself and perform better in every game,” he added.
Lee is the number one star of South Korea in the 2022 U23 Asian Cup. He joined Spanish club Mallorca in the summer of 2021 on a four-year contract and immediately became the mainstay there. Lee scored his first goal for Mallorca in a 6-1 loss to Real Madrid in September 2021. The 21-year-old midfielder scored one and provided two assists in his 30 La Liga appearances in the 2021-2022 season. In addition, he also had an assist in four matches in Copa Del Rey.
Vietnam will play South Korea on Sunday, at 8 p.m. (Hanoi time). The game will be reported live on VnExpress International.
