Singer Phuong My Chi files police report over adult video allegations

Chi said she immediately filed the case to the police after the video, which featured a woman that allegedly looked like her, surfaced online last Friday.

“Cybersecurity experts confirmed this morning that I was not the one appearing in the video,” she said, adding that there were reportedly traces of deepfake, a type of digital manipulation of facial appearance using deep generative methods, in the content.

The singer and her entourage are thus completing their report filing process. They also contacted cybersecurity experts in preparation for legal actions.

Chi said she felt sad and hurt as her reputation was damaged, yet not depressed.

“I consider this [the legal process] a journey of regaining the reputation for myself and for my almost 10-year career in the entertainment industry,” she said.

She added that she aimed to support victims of cyberbullying with her efforts.

Chi previously responded to public doubts following the spread of an adult video in which there is a woman that allegedly looks like her.

The singer stated that she was not the person seen in the video and that the groundless allegations about her appearing in the video were “completely made up” to harm her reputation.

Chi, 20, first gained public recognition when finished as the runner-up in the 2013 The Voice Kids contest.

She has been active as a singer, with a focus on folk and pop music, and actress ever since.
