The incident occurred on Monday while Julius Lee, 44, was taking photos of his wife and their child, as reported by The Straits Times. The family reportedly arrived in Malaysia on Dec. 20 to celebrate Christmas.

Lee’s wife recounted that the mall’s hanging tree “suddenly came crashing down on him.” She was relieved that their daughter, who was with her at the time, was unharmed.

Following the incident, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s management swiftly brought Lee to a clinic for medical assistance and took immediate action to remove the fallen decoration and secure the area, according to the Malaysian news site The Star.

The mall issued a statement expressing regret over the incident and confirmed that Lee had received medical treatment. It assured a thorough inspection of decorations to guarantee the safety of its visitors.

“Rest assured Pavilion KL will continue to take all precautionary measures to ensure shoppers enjoy the year-end festivity with peace of mind as safety and security remain our utmost priority,” it stated.
