Singapore to offer quarantine-free travel for Vietnamese tourists starting mid-March

Singaporean authorities have decided to restore two-way quarantine-free travel with Vietnam from March 16, with the latter fully reopening international tourism a day earlier.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore announced Friday that vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs) will be launched for Greece and Vietnam from March 16, the Strait Times reported.

Short-term visitors and work permit holders eligible to travel on the new VTLs will be able to apply for a vaccinated travel pass starting 10 a.m. (Singapore time) on March 13.

According to VTL requirements, short-term visitors must be fully vaccinated against Covid with any vaccine in the World Health Organization (WHO) emergency use list, at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore.

They must also provide a negative PCR test taken within two days prior to departure to Singapore and purchase Covid medical insurance with a minimum coverage of SGD30,000 (US$22,000).

Highlighting Vietnam’s plans to fully reopen its borders for international tourism from Mar 15, Singaporean authorities said the launch of vaccinated travel lanes for visitors from Vietnam will see restoration of two-way, quarantine-free travel.

The Vietnamese government has announced that Vietnam will fully reopen inbound tourism from March 15, with foreign tourists allowed to visit the country without prior booking of tour packages.
