Singapore named world’s safest city for tourists

Singapore has been named the safest city in the world for tourists by U.S. personal finances platform Forbes Advisor, followed by Japan’s Tokyo and Canada’s Toronto.

In a study it measured 60 cities across seven metrics: health security, crime risk, infrastructure security, digital security, personal security, travel safety, and natural disaster risk.

It found Singapore had the highest safety rating thanks to its strict laws and low crime rates.

The island also had the lowest natural disaster risk due to its relative safety from typhoons and earthquakes.

Tropical cyclones are unlikely to hit Singapore due to its position near the equator.

The study also praised its quality of healthcare services and infrastructure and low digital security risk, which reflects the ability of citizens to freely use the Internet without fear of privacy violations, identity theft or online attacks.

Caracas in Venezuela was named the riskiest city in the world.
