Significant books by Party General Secretary

Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng passed away on July 19 at the age of 80. During his lifetime, the Party leader published dozens of books which are significant documents for officials and people to refer, learn and apply in the work of building the country.

Here are some selected outstanding books by General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

1. “The National Assembly in the Reform Process Meeting the Requirements for Building and Perfecting the Rule of Law State of Socialist Việt Nam”

(Original title: “Quốc hội trong tiến trình đổi mới đáp ứng yêu cầu xây dựng, hoàn thiện Nhà nước pháp quyền xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam“)

The book consists of 95 articles, speeches and interviews of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, reflecting his deep strategic thinking and vision on building and perfecting the Rule of Law State of Socialist Việt Nam, by the people, for the people. It also reflects his close attention and guidance in renewing the organisation and operation of the National Assembly to meet the requirements of the new situation.

2. “Building and Developing the Advanced Vietnamese Culture With Strong National Identity”

(Original title: “Xây dựng và phát triển nền văn hóa Việt Nam tiên tiến, đậm đà bản sắc dân tộc“)

The book is a collection of 92 articles, speeches, talks, notes, and interviews of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng on building and developing the Vietnamese culture, with the earliest article dating back to 1968. The content of the speeches and articles reflects the General Secretary’s deep concern for building, preserving and developing the Vietnamese culture with both traditional and modern elements, national identity and integration, mobilising the internal resources and the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in the process of building a prosperous and happy country.

3. “Turning Challenges into Opportunities, Determining to Make a Breakthrough to Achieve Fast and Sustainable Development of the Country”

(Original title: “Biến thách thức thành cơ hội, quyết tâm tạo đột phá đưa đất nước phát triển nhanh, bền vững“)

The book features a selection of speeches, articles, interviews, letters, and telegrams of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng from April 2021 to December 2022.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted the entire world and severely affected the country, the strategic guidance from the Party Central Committee, led by the General Secretary, has been an important driving force for the Party and people to overcome difficulties and challenges, quickly concretise and implement the Resolutions and goals of the 13th Party Congress with the highest determination to create a breakthrough, turn challenges into opportunities, seize all opportunities, and strive for the best possible outcomes.

4. “Building a Clean, Strong Party and Political System, Contributing to the Successful Implementation of the 13th Party Congress’ Resolution”

(Original title: “Xây dựng Đảng và hệ thống chính trị trong sạch, vững mạnh, góp phần thực hiện thắng lợi Nghị quyết Đại hội XIII của Đảng“)

The book presents the speeches, articles, remarks, letters, and telegrams of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng during the 2021-2023 period, in which he led the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. The book reflects the comprehensive leadership and guidance of the General Secretary across various fields, sectors, levels, and localities. This publication is the continuation of a series of books published earlier by the General Secretary during the 11th and 12th Party terms.

5. “Building and Developing a Comprehensive, Modern Vietnamese Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy with a Distinct ‘Vietnamese Bamboo’ Identity”

(Original title: “Xây dựng và phát triển nền đối ngoại, ngoại giao Việt Nam toàn diện, hiện đại, mang đậm bản sắc “cây tre Việt Nam“)

This book systematises the leadership and direction of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng in building and implementing the foreign policies and diplomatic guidelines. The publication helps party committees, government at all levels, party members, Vietnamese people at home and abroad, and international friends to clearly understand the Party’s foreign policy guidelines and policies.

The book introduces speeches, articles, remarks, interview responses, letters, and telegrams of the General Secretary, reflecting the consistent and pervasive thinking of the top leader of Party on Việt Nam’s foreign policy and diplomacy in the new era.
