If Vietnam can win 14 more gold medals on the final competition day Sunday, they will break the record of 194 gold medals that Indonesia established in 1997 SEA Games.
Vietnam already secured their top position in the medal table, earning 181 gold medals by the end of Saturday, 106 gold more than the second-placed Thailand.
On Sunday, there will be 61 sets of medals, of which boxing has the most with 13. Vietnam have the chance to break Indonesia’s record or even reach the 200 medal mark. Men’s football is the most anticipated event as Vietnam will play Thailand in the final at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.
