Pond provides house with picturesque outdoor space

A retirement home for grandparents that can also suit the needs of their children and grandkids was the goal of the architects who designed this house with three separate living quarters.

The family altar is in the entrance and the living room on the left. The three bedrooms may be found in the right wing, while common areas in the back include the kitchen, dining room and terrace.
The rear of the house serves as an area for parking and for family members to socialize. However, everyone in the family loves to hang out in the courtyard, which features a pond with lots of plants.

The overall home, according to the architect’s explanation, boasts a classic red tile roof system reflecting the grandparents’ generation, while the rising concrete block indicates the vigorous development of the house’s youthful generation.
The house is protected from excess heat, noise, and dust by the lush vegetation that surrounds it, and this vegetation also gives the house shade and natural ventilation.

Most of the courtyard space is taken up by a huge pond that serves to moderate and regulate the temperature.
Thanks to this pond, the humidity in the house is balanced, the air is not dry.
With an open design, function rooms have two sides in contact with nature, one side facing the water, the other facing the surrounding garden.

The three-bedroom home’s open layout not only provides for plenty of natural light and ventilation, but also meets the needs of a multigenerational family by facilitating communication and fostering a sense of community.
The homeowner noted that the courtyard serves as a focal point for the household because of the positive feelings it evokes among family members.

The corner of the yard is just as picturesque as the rest, with its own miniature pond scenario complete with a bubbling stream, decorative fish, and lush, green vegetation. It’s a perfect spot for individuals to unwind.

The huge veranda acts as a perfect barrier, absorbing sound and protecting the interior from rain.

There are fewer walls between the kitchen and other rooms that serve practical purposes, creating a more open atmosphere.

The architect employed flower tiles of the same tone but with more textures to create accents for the living room space, so preserving the nostalgic feel and harmonizing with the neutral interior hue.

Around the exterior of the home, wind cotton bricks serve as both decorative and functional lighting and ventilation elements. The combination of the green array, terracotta ventilation bricks, and a whitewashed background is both contemporary and rustic.
The house was completed after a year of design and construction. The total cost was VND3 billion (over $124,000).
