A Dong Nai Province police officer is set to be tried for allegedly raping three girls aged 13-15 on multiple occasions.
The Dong Nai People’s Procuracy, the prosecutor’s office, said Wednesday that Nguyen Duy Linh, 37, who has been dismissed as captain from the Phu Tan Commune police station in Dinh Quan District, faces charges of rape and molesting of persons aged under 16.
According to the indictment, in March last year the three girls, all from the local commune, visited Linh’s police station to report harassment by a person who threatened to post “sensitive” videos and photos of the girls on Facebook. Further details of the content were not revealed.
Linh was assigned the case.
But between March and May that year he demanded the three should meet him in his office, separately or together, where he reportedly raped and molested them.
He also called and instructed them to meet him in hotels around the district where too he forcibly had sex with them.
On several occasions he videotaped what he did to them.
On May 15 last year the families of the girls finally found what Linh had been doing and complained to the Dinh Quan District police.
The next day Linh turned himself in and admitted to all his crimes.
Fortunately for the victims, none of them became pregnant.
The maximum punishment for child rape is death.
